"Sure, come visit me in Alaska. Better yet, ride a motorcycle through the national parks on your  way here, that would be awesome!" Riding a motorcycle through national parks in Montana and Canada did sound pretty epic.  But the reality of the logistics started to fill my head.  My "dad" brain kicked in as I realized the challenges involved  in a trip of that magnitude.   I bought of copy of Milepost , the authoritative book on traveling western Canada and Alaska, and started to plan my trip. Gas stops were paramount since the bike I'm buying has a gas tank of only 3.7 gallons. There's a whole lot of nothing in between some of these stops, and getting stuck in the middle of nowhere in Yukon is not my idea of a good time. I'm hoping to get close to 50mpg on this trip, but I won't really know until I'm on the road.  I plan on touring the Skookumchuck Paper Mill just before heading into Banff National Park on Day ...
